Sweden Backs Malmö CO2 Hub To Anchor Emerging CCS Network

Sweden is taking a decisive step toward building the infrastructure needed to scale carbon capture and storage, with new state support awarded to the Malmö CO2 Hub.

Through the Industriklivet program, the Swedish Energy Agency has approved SEK 31 million (~$3.4 million) in funding to Nordion Energi, enabling the project to move into the investment-preparation phase.

The initiative is designed to establish Sweden’s first shared system for handling liquefied carbon dioxide, creating a common logistics platform that can serve multiple emitters.
