Repsol has signed a historic 8-year agreement with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) to supply renewable marine fuels in the Port of Barcelona, establishing an unprecedented long-term relationship within the cruise industry.

Following the start of the 2026 European cruise season, Repsol will supply biofuels and, from 2029, renewable methanol, directly to the ships of NCLH’s different cruise brands – Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises – when they call at the Port of Barcelona.

“This agreement is a milestone that highlights that renewable fuels are poised to play a key role in reducing the carbon footprint of the maritime sector. By partnering with NCLH, one of the world’s leading cruise companies, we demonstrate that renewable fuels can now be deployed at scale to immediately begin reducing emissions at sea,” said Juan Abascal, Repsol’s General Manager of Industrial Transformation and Circular Economy.
