Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has completed one of the first commercial biofuel bunkerings for a cruise vessel in Greece, with Norwegian Viva receiving a waste-based marine fuel blend at the port of Piraeus.

The operation forms part of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ biofuel programme across Southern Europe under its Sail & Sustain strategy.

The Piraeus bunkering builds on the company’s previous biofuel trials in Europe, including successful operations in Gibraltar, Copenhagen, and the Amsterdam–Rotterdam–Antwerp (ARA) region, as well as an earlier biofuel delivery in Piraeus on 20 July.
